Tollywood was in tears as the legendary lyricist Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry passed away

Telugu Lyricist Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry passed away on Tuesday in Secunderabad due to lung cancer-related issues. He passed away in KIMS hospital.

A medical notice reads, "Noted Tollywood lyricist Sri Sirivennela Seetharama Garu died today afternoon at 4:07 pm. He passed away from Lung cancer-related complications. He died of complications related to lung cancer.

Sirivennela received admission to KIMS Hospital, Secunderabad, on November 24, suffering from pneumonia. He was placed on ECMO to assist his lungs during ICU and was monitored closely."

The announcement of Sastry's death has caused shock waves in the Telugu film industry. Actor Prakash Raj tweeted, "jgmNt kuttuNbN miidi miiru leek eekaaki jiivitN maadi.... Unbearable loss, thank you for the poetic perceptions which added meaning to our lives .. YOU WERE THE BEST GURUJI #SirivennelaSitaramasastry Garu #RIP."

Actor Nithiin shared on Twitter, "Shocked to know about the demise of #SirivennelaSeetharamaSastry Garu. Your contribution to the music industry will be remembered. Rest in Peace, Sir."

Siddharth recalls how Sirivennela Sastry assisted him in learning Telugu. On Twitter, he wrote, "When I was studying Telugu before making my debut film, he taught me to read poetry. I am grateful to him for my passion for the Telugu language.. This is a legendary mind. Sincere condolences."

The fans who are fans of Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry mourn the death of the 66-year-old artist. "May his soul rest in peace, sir. Your songs will live on in our hearts," said a fan, one of whom wrote, "Great lyricist, thanks for giving us a wonderful childhood. You will be with us for the rest of our lives."

Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry was first introduced as a lyricist alongside Janani Janmabhoomi in 1984. He gained fame for the hit song "Vidhatha Thalapuna" by K Viswanath director Sirivennela (1986). Sastry has more than 3000 songs to his name. He has written songs for films such as Swayamkrushi, Swarna Kamalam, Shrutilayalu, Gaayam, Swati Kiranam Kshana Kshanam, Sindhooram, Nuvve Kavali, Okkadu, Varsham and Gamyam and many more.

Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry was conferred with the Padma Shri in 2019 for his work and dedication to excellence in the field of art.

His latest films include RRR, Most Eligible Bachelor and Narappa.

Sitaramasastry's remains will be stored at the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday to allow celebrities, politicians, and the general community to show their final tributes.
