India Secures Historic Gold at Asian Games 2023, Smashes World Record in 10m Air Rifle Men's Team Event

In a momentous achievement for Indian shooting, the trio of Divyansh Singh Panwar, Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, and Rudrankksh Patil made history by breaking the world record in the men's 10m Air Rifle team event at the Asian Games 2023. Their exceptional performance not only earned India its first gold medal at the event but also surpassed China's previous record set at the World Championships in Baku earlier this year.

With an impressive overall point tally of 1893.7, the Indian team shattered China's feat of 1893.3 points, showcasing their exceptional skills and determination on the global stage.

Rudrankksh secured the third spot with a score of 632.5, while Aishwary claimed the fifth position with a score of 631.6. Their outstanding individual performances not only contributed to the team's victory but also qualified them for the men's 10m air rifle individual final, scheduled for later today. Remarkably, all three Indian competitors achieved positions within the top eight, with Divyansh securing the final spot. However, due to regulations allowing only two shooters from a single country to advance to the final, Divyansh will not participate. Patil and Tomar, having achieved higher rankings, will represent India in the final, commencing at 9 AM.

Initially placed fourth, the Indian team experienced a shift in rankings as the nature of shooting dictates. Rudrankksh and Tomar started in the bottom half of the top ten, with Divyansh at 17th position. However, their collective effort propelled India to third place in the team rankings, raising hopes of securing a medal in the prestigious competition.
